Where is Mountainaire?
Mountainaire is a small, unincorporated community tucked inside Coconino National Forest, just off I-17 south of Flagstaff. No stoplights, no strip malls, just pine trees and a handful of homes settled into the woods.
The world's largest ponderosa pine forest
The Starlight Loft sits inside Arizona's (and the world's) largest contiguous stand of ponderosa pine trees, the Coconino National Forest that wraps around Flagstaff. Trailheads are a short walk from our door.
The world's first International Dark Sky Community
Flagstaff earned this designation in 2001 — the first city on Earth to receive it. It's why our stargazing deck delivers a night sky most guests have never seen anywhere else.

The Mountainaire General Store and Mountainaire Tavern are a minute from our door, with a well-stocked Dollar General just across the highway. Everything you need is close, without ever feeling like you left the woods.
