Lowell Observatory
Did you know Flagstaff was the world's very first "International Dark Sky City"? Perched on Mars Hill overlooking downtown, Lowell Observatory is the crown jewel of Flagstaff’s night sky culture. Best known as the place where Pluto was discovered in 1930, today it offers an incredible, interactive space experience. You can peer through the historic 24-inch Clark Telescope, explore the cutting-edge Giovale Open Deck Observatory, and take guided constellation tours.
Walnut Canyon National Monument
Step back in time to walk among 25 rooms of ancient cliff dwellings built into the canyon walls by the Sinagua people over 800 years ago. The paved Island Trail descends into the steep, limestone canyon where you can actually walk right up into and inside several well-preserved stone rooms while taking in dramatic canyon views.
Arizona Snowbowl
Perched on the San Francisco Peaks, Arizona Snowbowl is Flagstaff’s premier alpine destination year-round. In the winter, it offers incredible skiing, snowboarding, and gear rentals across 55+ runs. In the summer and fall, take the Scenic Gondola up to 11,500 feet for sweeping, 70-mile views of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim and vibrant golden aspen leaves in October.
Sunset Crater & Wupatki Monuments
